Detailed Description
The Las Delicias Beach swimming route offers one of the most comfortable, safe and scenically attractive urban environments in Águilas for open water swimming. The entire route takes place within the designated buoyed swimming area, providing an accessible experience that is ideal both for beginners and for regular swimmers.
Las Delicias Beach is officially designated as a sports beach and is one of the main activity hubs along the urban coastline of Águilas. Its combination of comprehensive services, excellent accessibility and generally calm sea conditions makes it a popular meeting point for swimmers and water sports enthusiasts.
The route is located within a well-protected bay sheltered from easterly winds by Punta del Nido de los Cuervos, resulting in generally calm and stable sea conditions throughout much of the year.
Throughout the swim, participants enjoy constant visual references to some of Águilas’ most iconic landmarks. The Águilas Auditorium stands prominently along the seafront, while the Castle of San Juan de las Águilas and Pico de Aguilica frame the coastal landscape at either end of the bay.
Beneath the surface, the route is notable for its well-preserved seabed and extensive Posidonia seagrass meadows, which contribute to the area's environmental quality and biodiversity. The typically clear waters and the protected nature of the bay make this one of the most pleasant and balanced locations in the municipality for safe and continuous swimming.
