Description

We are in a small and charming cove on the Lorca coastline, within the Cabo Cope and Puntas de Calnegre Regional Park, a protected natural area that is home to numerous almost untouched beaches.

Beneath the surface, the sides of the cove are rocky, while the centre is dominated by brilliant white sand. After equipping ourselves, we head towards the right-hand side. The seabed is very shallow and we quickly encounter the typical inhabitants of cracks and crevices, including small octopuses, comber fish and gobies.

The rocky wall remains on our right and guides us along an enjoyable route towards the neighbouring cove known as Baño de las Mujeres. There is no need to reach it, however, as we can turn back at any point and take time to explore the countless hiding places used by a wide variety of marine species.

The rocky platform is shallow enough to stand comfortably throughout most of the route, making it particularly suitable for families with children. Meanwhile, on the sandy seabed, we can observe the usual saddled seabream and striped seabream stirring the sand in search of food, and perhaps even spot a pleasant surprise such as the peacock flounder, a flatfish that blends perfectly into the sand.
